A set arrives in one box as a backpack and a lunch bag in the same print, and one of the four adds a pencil case to make it a three-piece. What that buys you is a morning with one fewer decision in it. What it costs you is commitment: a child who goes off mermaids in March has gone off both pieces at once, and the replacement is two purchases rather than one. The separate lunch bags exist for exactly that reason, and the kids' one comes in ten prints of its own.

Insulated here means a foil-faced lining inside the fabric shell. It slows the exchange of heat, which with a frozen block in the bag holds a packed lunch through a morning and which without one does nothing on a warm day. What arrives in the box when you order an abshoo set?

A backpack and a lunch bag in the same print, in three of the four sets. The panda set is the three-piece and adds a pencil case. Nothing else is included: the water bottle in a photograph is there for scale, not in the box.

Does your abshoo lunch bag clip onto the backpack or go inside it?

Inside, or carried by its own handle. These are soft bags sized to sit in the main compartment of the matching pack rather than to hang off a D-ring, which is the arrangement that survives a walk to school. A lunch bag swinging off the outside of a small pack is a lunch bag that gets caught in a door.

Do you save by buying an abshoo set rather than the two pieces apart?
