A bag on a small child fails in a way it never does on an adult: it swings. A pack that hangs below the bottom pulls backwards on every step, the straps walk off the shoulders, and the child ends up holding it in one hand by lunchtime. What size abshoo backpack do you need for a three-year-old?

The 11.8-inch pack, which measures 11.8 by 9.8 by 4.7 inches. On a three-year-old it reaches from the shoulders to somewhere above the waist and no lower, which is where a small bag has to stop if it is not going to swing. If the child is tall for three, hold a tape from the bony bump at the base of the neck to the top of the hips and buy the height nearest that number.

Will your abshoo toddler backpack have a chest strap?

Five of the seven on this page do. It is a clip on an adjustable webbing band across the front, and its job is to stop the shoulder straps sliding outwards off narrow shoulders. On a small child it does more good than any amount of padding, and it is the feature to check for before the print.

How do you clean an abshoo preschool backpack?

We would not put one in a machine. The panels are a water-resistant polyester with a foam-backed panel behind them, and a wash cycle beats the finish out of the cloth and the shape out of the foam. A damp cloth and a little soap does what a wash would, and the bag dries the same afternoon.
