The port is a socket set into the side of the bag with a short lead running from it to an internal pocket. You put your own power bank in that pocket, plug it into the inside end, and charge a phone from the outside end without opening the bag. That is the whole of the mechanism, and it is worth being clear about it because the photographs make it look like a feature that supplies power. There is no battery in the bag and none is included.

Whether it earns its place depends on how you travel. On a commute where the bag stays on your back through a train journey, plugging in without taking the bag off is genuinely useful. Sitting at a desk it is a socket you will never use, and the lead is one more thing inside the bag.
